What is Conception Plus: Maidens of the Twelve Stars about?

Conception Plus: Maidens of the Twelve Stars is a unique RPG title. As already mentioned above, it was first released in Japan on 3rd January 2019 for the PS4 platform. The game was then launched worldwide on 5th November 2019. Itsuki Yuge is the main protagonist who is suddenly summoned to the magical world of Granvania. As a savior, he must save Granvania from evil Impurities. He and his Star Children are the only ones who are capable of defeating these Impurities. But he needs the help of his Star children to return to his world. Itsuki Yuge is lost his parents at a very young age. He lives with his cousin and classmate Mahiru Konatsuki. Everything changes when Mahiru suddenly calls him to come to the school rooftop and makes a confession that she is pregnant. Itsuki is treated as the savior of the world. He is called the “God’s Gift” as he tries to save Granvania from the evil “impurities”. The world is covered in Impurities due to the “disturbance of the stars.”  The king wants Itsuki to purify the impurities and save the world. As the savior, he must mate with his 12 Star Maidens and give birth to Star Children to destroy the impurities once and for all. To get back to his world, he must seek help from the 12 Star Maidens. The player’s role is to attract girls from National Star God Academy and raise their affection for Itsuki so that they can give birth to Star Children. But this is not an eroge. The Star Children are produced from Itsuki’s energy and one of the twelve Star Maidens into a particular device. To produce more powerful Star Children, Itsuki needs to increase his intimacy with the twelve maidens. While the other aspects of the gameplay are related to dating simulation, it operates on a turn-based battle system.

Gameplay

The gameplay revolves around the main character Itsuki Yoge, a young man who is destined to save the world of Granvania. Players can control Itsuki who is always referred to as God’s Gift. Itsuki is called onto the school roof by his childhood friend and cousin Mahiru, who tells him that she is pregnant. Before Itsuki could respond, they both are sucked into the sky and taken to the world of Granvania. Here, they meet Mana. Soon the pregnancy doubt is resolved as Mahiru coughs up dark energy that transforms into a being called an Impurity. After defeating the Impurity, Itsuki is taken to the king. Itsuki gets to know that he is the new savior known as God’s Gift. God’s Gifts are brought to restore one of the twelve seals which help keep the Impurities at bay. This is done by bonding with a Star Maiden and undergoing the ritual known as Classmating. This ritual is performed to produce Star Children, who are spiritual beings. They then join God’s Gift and are the only ones who can defeat the Impurities.  But Itsuki’s arrival coincides with all the twelve seals. This means he needs to restore all of them at once. So he must bond with all twelve Star Maidens and Mahiru is one of them. As Itsuki restores all the twelve seals in the labyrinths, players are given the hint of a thirteenth seal. The good thing is players don’t have to complete all the twelve labyrinths to deal with the final dungeon. The 13th Star Maiden is Alfie, who is the trainer of the Star Children. Her story is an interesting one. The Classmating ritual is different from sex. But sadly, the game provides no details on what the ritual entails. However, you are shown a silhouetted heroine with barbie-doll anatomy in suggestive poses for just a few seconds. The poses change based on the depth of the current bond. Leaving everything aside, Star Children is possibly the best part of the game. They feature adorable animations, designs, and comments during exploration. Players are allowed to choose from the newly-produced Star Child after the ritual is performed.
